It’s #TechTuesday and this week we shine the spotlight on Jacqueline Symes-Honeysett, Senior Manager of Finance and Operations at BoomerangFX. Jacqueline has been working as an accountant for over 10 years in a variety of industries including healthcare, construction, real estate, and telecommunications. In her spare time, she enjoys exploring the outdoors with her husband and 2 young children by way of paddleboarding, hiking, and cycling.
Q: What first sparked your interest in working in the tech industry?
A: Technology is one of the fastest-growing and fastest-changing industries. I was looking for a dynamic and challenging role to connect with.
Q: Why do you think it’s important for more women to join the tech industry?
A: Women are increasingly leading the charge in senior-level positions across all industries. It is important that women are represented throughout the tech industry to provide a different perspective while introducing additional role models for future generations.
Q: What advice would you give young women just starting out?
A: Surround yourself with people you can learn from and focus on building strategic relationships that will assist you in your personal development.
Q: What is a professional career highlight you are proud of?
A: Obtaining my CPA designation and achieving one of the highest rankings in my class year.
Q: Tell us about a momentous life experience that helped shape you…
A: My grandfather passed away when I was 22 and he was a large influence in my life. He helped mentor and advised me with my life goals. I found myself needing to look inward and focus on finding new role models – which made me concentrate on finding individuals that had a strong work ethic with the ability to help mold my future.
